Lisa Sui, MA
Supervised Pre-doctoral Clinician
Lisa (she/her) strives to embody inclusivity, compassion, advocacy, cultural curiosity, and humility through her practice, education, and extracurricular activities. Her clinical style utilizes an integrative approach using the following modalities and evidence-based practices: relational psychology, psychodynamic with an attachment theory focus, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma-informed care (e.g., TF-CBT), and narrative therapy. Lisa's past trainings also include Psychological First Aid, Seeking Safety, Mental Health First Aid, Eye Motion Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), some Gottman Couples Therapy, and some Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
Lisa is proud of her bicultural identity and has carried her passion for uplifting her community by being the Founder and President of Azusa Pacific University's (APU) PsyD Program's student organization, Asian Americans & Allies. She also enjoys learning through her local psychological association and advocating for her peers' educational, professional, and personal goals through being one of San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association's
(SGVPA) Student Representative.
To demonstrate her life-long commitment to her values, Lisa has a past history of volunteering (e.g., at a non-profit case management organization for the unsheltered, Crisis Text Line counselor, and free vision service trips within California and internationally in Taiwan) and has sought opportunities through extracurricular activities to provide support to her local communities, including co-hosting a QPR Suicide Gatekeeper training for the Saddleback College community during the COVID pandemic, volunteering with LACPA for Eaton Canyon fire relief efforts, and spearheading a psychology graduate student mentorship program at APU.
Clinical Experience:
Lisa's past clinical experience involved predominantly individual therapy at a community mental health (demographic: adolescents and adults) and K-12 school sites; she has also planned and conducted group workshops at a local teen center, focusing on building skills in healthy relationships, boundary-setting, and effective communication.
