Alex Liu, MA

Alex (he/him) views therapy as a collaborative journey of exploring the many mosaic pieces that shape each unique individual. He believes that the pursuit of wholeness invites a relational, developmental, and insight-oriented process of growth and healing for wounded souls. While affirming each client's inherent value and dignity, Alex strives to meet clients with compassion, empathy, and warmth. He is passionate about a culturally informed approach and is committed to seeing each client holistically through a biopsychosocial lens that attends to the influence of systems, power, and privilege. His therapeutic orientation is grounded in attachment theory and thoughtfully integrates clients' religious and spiritual beliefs when relevant.

Alex also values neuropsychological assessment as a meaningful avenue for understanding and advocating for individuals whose struggles are often hidden or misunderstood. Through carefully exploring clients' familial, social, and developmental histories, he seeks to approach assessment, diagnosis, and treatment with cultural sensitivity and clinical nuance.

Clinical Experience:
Alex has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults from diverse cultural backgrounds across school, community mental health, private practice, and university counseling center settings. He has developed competence in supporting individuals navigating emotional and relational difficulties, identity and cultural concerns, life transitions, and the lasting effects of trauma. His clinical work also includes neuropsychological assessment and supporting neurodiverse individuals and families as they navigate academic, social, emotional, and developmental challenges.
