Emiko Estrada, MA
Supervised Pre-doctoral Clinician
Emiko (she/her/hers) believes that every individual possesses the capacity for growth and healing when provided with a safe, supportive, and attuned therapeutic relationship. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic principles, exploring how early relationships, developmental experiences, and unconscious patterns influence present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She also incorporates somatic interventions to help clients strengthen awareness of their nervous system, develop emotional regulation skills, and foster a greater sense of safety within themselves. Guided by a holistic and systems-based perspective, Emiko considers the influence of family, culture, identity, and social environments in understanding each client's unique experiences. She is committed to providing equitable, culturally responsive, and affirming care to individuals from diverse racial, cultural, and LGBTQ+ communities. Emiko has a particular passion for working with children and believes that all children are capable of far more than they are often given credit for. She strives to recognize each child's strengths while supporting healthy development, resilience, and meaningful relationships through compassionate, individualized care.
Clinical Experience:
Emiko has experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults in university and private practice settings. She has supported clients presenting with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, identity development, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and life transitions. Emiko is passionate about creating a warm, collaborative environment where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
