Isabella (she/her/they/them) believes that each therapeutic relationship is unique, making the approach to each client tailored to their specific needs. Depending on client needs and wishes, she draws on other methods and modalities, but her core approach is psychodynamic and relational. This means that she sees the importance of paying attention to patterns, current and past relationships, and maintaining an open dialogue about the relationship between the therapist and client. For Isabella, the relationship between client and therapist is where a lot of the work happens and she prioritizes clients feeling understood and respected from the first session.

Clinical Experience:
Isabella is a 4th year Psy.D student at Azusa Pacific University. In 2024, she was at Azusa Pacific University’s Community Counseling Center, where she worked with children and adolescents in a school and community setting. She primarily worked with a Hispanic population facing trauma, including exposure to gang and community violence. She was trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. The following year, she worked at Biola University's Counseling Center, a private Christian university, where she worked psychodynamically with adults, helping clients explore their faith alongside personal and relational concerns. During that same year, she also completed training in assessment for ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and mood disorders with children, adolescents, and adults at a private practice.
