Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
California Board of Behavioral Sciences
Jonathan Flannes, MA
Jonathan’s (he/him) greatest joy in life is to witness change. One thing he has learned in his work as a therapist is that nothing too painful, challenging, or threatening is beyond the reach of change.
Pain comes in many forms: anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, and addiction to name a few. As a therapist, Jonathan serves as a catalyst of change, allowing his clients to move forward into a life of great possibility and peace of mind. In experiencing the healing offered through therapy, one can free themselves of the struggles of the past and present that hold us down.
In Jonathan's personality and counseling, he offers a warm, safe environment, through which clients can truly be seen and heard. In his relationships with clients, he seeks to demonstrate that people can be sources of strength and joy, rather than the causes of fear and pain.
Clinical Experience:
In his career, Jonathan has worked in a number of clinical settings that provided a comprehensive approach to the work of a therapist. This has included various private practice settings, treating clients at a substance abuse treatment center, working in diversion programs for high risk youth, offering therapy in several academic environments, and working with adults with complex trauma in an outpatient environment. To become a licensed clinician, Jonathan received his education through New York University and the University of San Francisco. In addition to this, Jonathan has authored a book on community mental health and various articles on the field of psychology and new techniques in treatment.
Jonathan’s focus is healing anxiety, trauma, addiction, and other means of internal struggle through both psychotherapy and the use of EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). He has found that this combination addresses both the way we think and the way we feel to address healing on a global scale.
